Description
Semax nasal spray for research: 10 mg of Semax dissolved in 5 ml saline (about 90% NaCl, a little bacteriostatic water to preserve it), in a 5 ml amber glass bottle with a nasal spray pump. An independent lab confirms at least 99% purity by HPLC and mass spectrometry, and a Certificate of Analysis (COA) comes with every batch.
What is Semax?
Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide with the sequence Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro. It joins the ACTH(4-7) fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone to a Pro-Gly-Pro tail that protects the chain from enzymes and stretches its half-life from minutes to hours. It was developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics in Moscow in the 1980s. Unlike full ACTH, Semax does not drive the adrenal cortex, so research centres on the central nervous system instead.

The nasal spray
The bottle is ready to use and needs no reconstitution, which removes one source of error from a study. One press delivers about 0.12 ml of a 2 mg/ml solution, so about 240 mcg of Semax per spray, and the 5 ml bottle holds about 40 sprays. Keep it upright and store it cold.
Semax or Selank?
Both come out of Russian peptide research and both are studied for neurotrophic effects, but they are different molecules with different targets. Semax is the ACTH fragment and is followed mainly through BDNF and NGF. Selank is a tuftsin analog, a piece of immunoglobulin G, and is studied for the GABA system instead.
