Description
Kisspeptin-10 is supplied as 5 mg of lyophilized powder in a glass vial. An independent lab confirms at least 99% purity by HPLC and mass spectrometry, and a Certificate of Analysis (COA) comes with every batch.
What is Kisspeptin-10?
Kisspeptins are peptides made from the KISS1 gene. The gene was first described in 1996 as a suppressor of cancer metastasis, which is why the longest form, kisspeptin-54, is also called metastin. Kisspeptin-10 is the last ten amino acids of that chain (Tyr-Asn-Trp-Asn-Ser-Phe-Gly-Leu-Arg-Phe-NH2) and the shortest fragment that fully activates the kisspeptin receptor KISS1R, also known as GPR54.
- GnRH release: kisspeptin as the main upstream switch of the GnRH neurons in the hypothalamus.
- Puberty: in 2003, loss of function in GPR54 was linked to absent puberty, which opened this whole field of research.
- Cancer and placenta: the original metastasis work and KISS1 expression in the placenta.
Much of this research runs in cell and animal models, and those results cannot be applied directly to humans.
Kisspeptin or Gonadorelin?
Kisspeptin works one step above GnRH. It activates KISS1R on the GnRH neurons, which then release GnRH. Gonadorelin is GnRH itself and acts directly on the pituitary. Comparing the response to each one shows researchers where in the reproductive hormone chain a signal fails.
Buy Kisspeptin-10: quality, storage and shipping
Every batch is made in a controlled cleanroom. Mass spectrometry confirms the identity of the peptide and HPLC confirms its purity. Our guide on how to read a peptide COA explains what each value on the certificate means.
Store the powder at 2 to 8 °C and away from light, and keep any reconstituted solution in the fridge. For dissolving the powder in the lab we carry bacteriostatic water. Orders ship discreetly with tracking across the EU, and you can pay by card, Google Pay or crypto.
Questions about Kisspeptin-10
Kisspeptin-10 or kisspeptin-54?
Both activate the same receptor. Kisspeptin-54 is the full 54 amino acid form, kisspeptin-10 its short C-terminal end, which is easier to synthesize and is widely used in cell and animal studies.
Where does the name kisspeptin come from?
The KISS1 gene was discovered in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and its name is a nod to the town's best-known chocolate, Hershey's Kisses.
